Kane stays in Munich
Bayern Munich has secured a massive advantage by signing Harry Kane through to 2029. The 33-year-old striker, who arrived from Tottenham in 2023 for a €100m fee, has signed what German media reports as the most lucrative contract in the history of the club. This extension provides the England captain with stability through Euro 2028 and until he is within a year of the 2030 World Cup. Kane has scored 156 goals in 161 competitive appearances for the German side since his arrival. He scored 61 goals in 51 games last season as the club completed a league and cup double. The striker, who was named the world’s best male player last week after scoring 89 goals for club and country since the start of August 2025, says: "I feel right at home at FC Bayern. I love the club, the fans and the city of Munich. We have a fantastic team and, in Vincent Kompany, a fantastic manager. It makes me very proud to be part of this club. My whole family is very happy here. I was keen to stay. I’m now looking forward to the future and I want to win many more titles with this great club." Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund said the club is delighted because they have the Ballon d’Or winner on the pitch. Kane is the first Bundesliga player to win the Ballon d’Or since 1996.
Stats and international impact
Kane remains 47 goals short of Alan Shearer’s Premier League record of 260, and this new deal in Germany decreases his chances of returning to break that mark. The decision wards off interest from Barcelona and clubs in Saudi Arabia. In September, Kane became the fastest player in German history to reach 100 Bundesliga goals, as he needed only 98 games to reach the milestone and broke the previous record held by Dieter Mueller by 31 games. He has already scored 102 goals in 102 Bundesliga matches and has won three successive Golden Boot awards. His success includes winning the 2024-25 Bundesliga along with the 2025 and 2026 Franz Beckenbauer Supercups.

He scored 73 goals in 65 matches for England and Bayern during the 2025-26 season, which included winning the 2024-25 Bundesliga along with the 2025 and 2026 Franz Beckenbauer Supercups. This performance led to him becoming the first Englishman to win the Ballon d’Or in 25 years. He also became the first Bayern player to win the award since 1981. The Leytonstone-born forward scored 12 goals for Bayern this season after he finished his previous campaign with 61 goals in 51 games. He scored six goals at this summer’s World Cup to become England’s all-time leading scorer in the competition.
